STAGE OF GLOBAL CONQUEST: The Mormon housewife’s Twilight teen-vampire romance novels sold nearly 29 million copies in one year, capturing the top four positions on the USA Today best-seller list for 2008, making her the first author ever to do so. (J. K. Rowling came close with Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 with her Harry Potter titles in 2000.) The movie version of Twilight grossed $191 million in the U.S., and the film adaptation of her second book, New Moon, opens in November. Enligt Variety så har Habbo grupperat med Summit Entertainment och kommer att lansera en virtuell värld baserad på Twilight, nu i höst. Ett utdrag:

Habbo, a teen-oriented virtual world website, has teamed with Summit Entertainment for ”Twilight”-themed online activities, items and polls.

The site is set to launch this fall in time for the domestic release of ”The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

”Habbo’s understanding of the teen online audience means they can build a unique virtual experience for their users,” said Jack Pan, exec VP of marketing for Summit. ”This is the first time Summit has partnered with a virtual world, so we wanted to be sure to work with a company with a proven track record for providing exciting, engaging activities.”

Twilight In Forks är en dokumentär som kommer att släppas på DVD och som handlar om staden Forks. MTV Movies har en trailer och artikel om den.

Last week, the creators of the first-ever documentary about Stephenie Meyer’s hugely successful ”Twilight” vampire phenomenon revealed the existence of their movie and unveiled its poster. Now, MTV is the only place where you can see the first footage released from the buzzed-about flick.

”One of the things that you’ll see in the film is how vampires actually relate to Forks, and whether there’s some truth to the characters that you’re familiar with,” explained director Jason Brown when he handed over the film’s hot-off-the-presses first trailer. ”This teaser gives you a glimpse at that.”

Focusing on Forks, Washington — the real-life tiny logging town where Meyer imagined a world of vampires, werewolves and love-struck humans — ”Twilight in Forks” visits Forks High School, explores the Quileute tribe, and investigates the phenomenon of Meyer’s saga by talking to people whose lives may have influenced the characters — or vice versa.

”You’ll see shots of the forest and some shots of signs about vampires,” explained Brown, who used high-def cameras to capture the area’s gorgeous rain-forest-like landscape. ”You’ll meet a real-life Bella and a real-life Alice that are in Forks.”

Seth (Meyers bror) har på Stephenie Meyers officiella sajt publicerat ett inlägg där han avslöjar den första artisten som är med på soundtracket för New Moon. Det är inga mindre än Death Cab for Cutie. De kommer att bidra med en sprillans nyskriven låt som för första gången kommer att spelas på MTV Video Music Awards som går av stapeln den 13:e september! Låten heter ”Meet Me On the Equinox”.

Bandet har inspirerat Stephenie mycket i skrivandet av Twilight så jag tror att hon är väldigt stolt att de är med på soundtracket, som första singel dessutom!

We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy.
